Are you time poor?
We have sourced a Nail care system that will give you this manicured look for when you need it in less than 15 minutes. We will share lost of hints and tips on how to achieve this.
There is certainly a lot of health talk these days about beauty products and nail polishes and choosing products that are best for your body. There are also plenty of terms being bantered around like chemical-free and water-based. The truth is, there are thousands of chemicals that our skin and bodies are perfectly fine with, and in fact, there are many that we actually need to live.
Like our skin, our finger and toenails are surprisingly porous even when they are dry. The cuticle and skin area around the nails is quite sensitive and absorbent, making the nail bed and surrounding areas prone to soaking up some of the things they come in contact with, especially with prolonged use.
There are some toxins that we are probably best to avoid when we can for this very reason. Gloss & Co five-free nail polish is produced by purposely excluding the 5 serious toxins that traditional nail polishes contain, as well as many other unnecessary toxins and chemicals to produce a much healthier and cleaner polish. That is why you will see us discussing eight free or 8-free.
This means that while you are wearing Gloss & Co polish, you are not exposed to the nasties that have been the subject of much research and many negative reports over recent years, and for good reason.
Finally, a nail polish range that is:
FORMALDEHYDE-FREE: Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen that is toxic to the organ and immune system.
FORMALDEHYDE RESIN-FREE: Derived from formaldehyde, this chemical may not be as toxic, however it is a known allergen which has been found to cause skin irritations as well as eye and lung irritation when inhaled.
TOLUENE-FREE: Toluene is well reported to be toxic to the nervous system, can cause developmental damage to unborn babies and is linked to malignant lymphoma. It not only impairs breathing, it can cause immediate nausea.
CAMPHOR-FREE: Camphor has been found to have caused liver damage in some rare cases after being applied to skin and has also been linked to seizures after being ingested into the body.
DIBUTYL PHTHALATE-FREE: DBP can be disruptive to the endocrine system. The endocrine system is responsible for producing essential hormones that regulate the body’s metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, sleep and mood. Dibutyl phthalate has been reported to be toxic to the reproductive system and unborn babies as well as having some involvement in promoting obesity.
ETHYL TOSYLAMIDE FREE: This chemical is banned in the UK due to its anitibacterial properties and concerns over antibiotic resistance.
TRIPHENYL PHOSPHATE (TPHP): TPHP is widely reported as an endocrine dispuptor and causes possible developmental and reproductive problems in animals.
XYLENE-FREE: Xylene is another known allergen and possible carcinogen that we choose to omit from our formula.
Perfect Mani in four easy steps!
The idea of painting your nails at home can sometimes send the sanest person into a spin, but what about those times when your favourite salon is booked up, you’re trying to save money, or you’ve just bought the coolest of shades and you want to wear it asap? Knowing how to self-administer some nail love is handy and you may never have to outsource it again!
GET IT DONE PROFESSIONALLY
1)STEP ONE – JUST A LITTLE PREP
Like with anything, preparation is key! Make sure you’ve removed previous colour and your hands and nails are clean and gently filed just the way you like them before you begin.
2)STEP TWO – BASE COAT – TWICE
Apply your Base Coat: TWICE. This is absolutely a game changer and designed not only to protect your nails, but to bond with your favourite colour to make it super strong and almost bulletproof! Yep.. 2 coats… Trust us!
STEP THREE – COLOUR IN THREE EASY STROKES
Once your double base coat is dry, take your fabulous colour and rest the hand to be painted on a firm surface. Place a medium sized drop of your chosen colour on the centre of your nail near the cuticle leaving a small gap for the polish to self-settle but won’t touch the cuticle. Using your brush, make one, long, stroke toward the tip of your nail. Return to where you started, then cover both left and right side of nail, across the back and then down both sides so the colour is distributed evenly. Let the first coat dry completely before applying the second. If you do happen to have a mishap and touch your skin or cuticles, just use a toothpick to remove the polish and touch up any area you need. Simple!
STEP FOUR – APPLY TOP COAT
Finish off your manicure with a strengthening fast drying Top Coat. This will protect your artwork making it both durable, shiny and hard wearing.
PS. Mastering the art of nail painting can take a few practise shots, so we recommend you start with a soft colour first – easier to clean/hide mishaps!
